Recent Interests

Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I think my problem is I'm too lazy to download pictures and videos to my computer. I think technology exists to make it simple, but I don't have it!  Since the last post in January, Dallin has had his Pinewood Derby in Cub Scouts,  but his car didn't place very well. I only have a sad-face picture of him. I meant to get a really cute picture with him in his scout shirt and holding his car, but since I was busy organizing the event, I didn't get a picture until after (when he didn't have a trophy.)

Dallin got to take a skateboarding class to earn his skateboarding belt loop in scouts. He had such a good time and learned a lot of new skills. He is really coordinated and pretty brave, so that makes him a good skateboarder. He really likes scooters even more and has learned to "drop-in"  on a half-pipe in his friend's backyard.  His latest obsession is BMX bikes. He can take apart bikes and put them back together. He took some hand-brakes off of a neighbor's discarded bike and installed them on his small bike that was only equipped with pedal brakes. They work! His latest project is restoring my brother's old 1988 Mongoose bike. He found it at my parent's house and then called my brother to ask if he can have it. It needs a lot of work, but he likes it because it's in the '80's movie "Rad." That's his favorite movie--actually he's in watching it right now as I type this.

Yesterday was Dallin's track and field day at school. He had been looking forward to it for months. I had a dental convention to attend that day, so Jarom was the one who went down to the school to help out. He didn't take any pictures of that event because he really had his hands full.  Dallin won 3 ribbons and so he is super happy. I think he got 1st place in the softball throw and 3rd place in both standing and running long jumps.

Dallin's favorite sport is basketball and we usually go and play on the driveway for 5 minutes before the bus comes every morning. He is so funny because he doesn't want to make any easy shots. He only stands way far back and takes these one-in-a-million shots. Of course, he spends most of the time chasing the ball that completely missed the backboard and is in the neighbor's yard. Morgan accused him of being a bad player and I overheard him say, "Morgan, just because I make a lot of air-balls doesn't make me a bad player!" It was hard not to laugh :)
